
She didn’t let her earlier handicap discourage her from becoming what she wanted to become-the best women’s soccer player in the United States. She was a natural and she knew it, so she set a goal for herself. From that day forward, she and her family have been involved in the sport. This was where Mia was first introduced to the game of soccer. Mia was only one at the time, but they lived there long enough for Mia to watch her first soccer match. They traveled all over, but the most significant trip was when they went to Italy. Her father worked for the United States Air Force, and because of his work, the Hamm family had to do a lot of moving. Thankfully, she ended up making a full recovery. When she was a baby, Mia had a clubfoot and was required to wear a cast to fix it. Mia was born on Main Selma, Alabama to Stephanie and Bill Hamm.
